Invisible AI Interview Assistant: Custom Name and Logo, and What Still Shows
People searching for an invisible or undetectable AI interview assistant are usually comparing three things: the shared screen, the Dock or taskbar, and the process list. Some tools charge extra for an invisibility add-on and still sit in the Dock. Others hide the Dock icon and still announce their product name in Activity Monitor on a Mac or Task Manager on Windows. Kalfi is built so the overlay, the window, and the process title use a name and logo you choose.
The short version
- Screen share: the overlay is flagged to stay out of capture. Test your exact Zoom, Meet, or Teams share mode.
- Dock and taskbar: hidden on macOS by default, and the window skips the Windows taskbar. This is included, not a paid add-on.
- Process list: you set the display name, up to 40 characters. Examples already in the app: Notes Helper, Calendar, Work Pad. The logo can be your own PNG, JPG, WEBP, or GIF.
- What this is not: a way to switch off the macOS microphone light, or a promise that proctoring software cannot exist.
Three places an interviewer can look
A shared screen is the obvious one. If the overlay says AI Interview in the corner of a fullscreen share, the product has already failed the glance test. The Dock, the Windows taskbar, and Cmd+Tab are the second glance, when someone asks what else is open. Activity Monitor and Task Manager are the third, when someone looks at the process list and reads a brand name.
Most “invisible AI” pricing treats these as one feature. They are three different mechanisms. Paying extra often buys only the first.
The invisibility add-on that is still in the Dock
Several interview copilots sell stealth, undetectable mode, or an invisibility pack on top of the subscription. Public pricing in this category often puts that pack on a higher tier. The window may leave a screen recording, and the Dock icon is still there with the product’s own logo. A person sharing their screen can be fine while a person looking at the Dock is not.
Kalfi does not sell that as an extra. Hiding from the Dock is the default on macOS. On Windows the window is created with the taskbar skipped. You can turn the Dock icon back on in Settings if you want it; the custom logo is what that icon uses.
Hidden from the Dock, still named in Activity Monitor
Final Round AI and tools in that style often remove the Dock icon and still leave a recognizable vendor name in the process list. That is the gap a custom display name is meant to close. In Kalfi, Settings, Stealth branding, the app display name is applied to the overlay header, the window title, and the process title. Where the operating system shows that title, a glance reads the name you typed.
The logo next to it is yours too. Upload a square image. Empty means the default mark. The name field holds 40 characters, so Notes Helper, Work Pad, or any other plain label you would not mind seeing on a screen all fit.
Two limits belong in the same paragraph. The macOS Dock label, if you unhide the Dock, comes from the app bundle and cannot be renamed at runtime. And the file that receives updates is still Kalfi. A custom title changes the glance. It does not rewrite the installer.
What the shared screen shows
The overlay window is created with content protection on, which asks the OS to leave that window out of screen capture. On a lot of Meet, Zoom, and Teams setups the other person sees the meeting and not the prompt. This is not identical on every OS version and every share mode (entire screen, a window, a browser tab). Run one test call and share the way you will share in the real meeting. The longer note on calls without a bot is the real-time meeting assistant guide.
The line we will not cross. Kalfi is not undetectable in the absolute sense, and it is not a rootkit. macOS still draws the orange microphone dot and, when screen recording permission is in use, the purple indicator. Nothing in Settings turns those off. Dedicated proctoring software is built to look for assistance. If an employer, school, or client says no, respect that. Use the name and logo so a permitted call does not look like a neon interview product.
Set it in about a minute
- Open Settings and find Stealth branding.
- Type a display name. The placeholder in the product is Notes Helper, Calendar, or Work Pad.
- Upload a logo if you want one. PNG, JPG, WEBP, or GIF, preferably square.
- Leave “Hide from Dock” on unless you specifically want a Dock icon.
- Start a test call, share your screen, and look at Activity Monitor or Task Manager yourself.
Pricing stays the normal list: $14 a month BYOK, $19 hosted, $9 for one session, $49 for three Hosted seats, and a 3-day Hosted trial with no card. Stealth branding is not a separate plan. Nearby reading: Cluely, which sells a much higher tier for its undetectable option.
Questions
Does Kalfi show up as an AI interviewer on a shared screen?
The overlay window uses screen-capture protection, so on many Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams setups the shared screen does not include it. That depends on the operating system and the meeting app. Test the exact share mode you will use. The overlay itself uses your display name and logo, not an AI Interview badge.
Why do other invisible modes still appear in the Dock?
Hiding a window from a screen share is a different switch from hiding the app icon. Some products sell the first and leave the Dock icon, with their brand on it. Kalfi hides from the macOS Dock and Cmd+Tab by default, and skips the Windows taskbar.
What does Activity Monitor or Task Manager show?
Kalfi sets the process title to the display name you type, so a glance can read Notes Helper or Work Pad instead of an interview product. The installed app file is still Kalfi, which is how updates ship. Someone who opens the file path can still see that. Final Round-style tools often leave the vendor name in that list even when the Dock icon is gone.
Can Kalfi hide the macOS microphone indicator?
No. The orange microphone dot and the purple screen-recording indicator are drawn by macOS. No legitimate app can turn them off. If a room forbids assistance, do not use it.
